Hunting of the Wild Yeast!

Last Friday, 4 of the 6 Galata students and I started learning about Wild Yeast. We watched an interesting YouTube video and then I had the students draw these wild yeast. Over the weekend, I have been doing my homework...because I'm hooked on the hunt! Here is my starter: I'm using Wheat Montana Whole Wheat Flour and our well water, but I have to admit, keeping this little starter warm has been a challenge in -17F weather. Luckily, I have these wool felted cylinders which happen to fit perfectly over the starter as it sits on top of the pellet stove.
