Hunting of the Wild Yeast!
Last Friday, 4 of the 6 Galata students and I started learning about Wild Yeast. We watched an interesting YouTube video and then I had the students draw these wild yeast.
Over the weekend, I have been doing my homework...because I'm hooked on the hunt!
Here is my starter:
I'm using Wheat Montana Whole Wheat Flour and our well water, but I have to admit, keeping this little starter warm has been a challenge in -17F weather. Luckily, I have these wool felted cylinders which happen to fit perfectly over the starter as it sits on top of the pellet stove.

How To Make Sourdough Bread Blog Post Once the starter is ready...you need a bread recipe!
The students will be experimenting with their own starter...time to hunt the wild yeast!
